Dog Training Shock Collars
Best Price Dog Shock Collars
Remote dog training collars are effective, safe and humane training aids to use with your dog. They can be used to correct bad behavior and allow your dog to become a great member of your family. Examples of bad behavior include jumping, barking, digging, chewing, etc. These days our dogs are not just a part of our families, but a part of our communities. As such, they need to become good citizens. This can often be the difference between keeping and giving your dog away. It can also be the difference between a dog happy family and a family that cannot enjoy their dog, and if a family does not enjoy its dog, the dog cannot enjoy the family.
Training collars can also be used to extend control over your dog and his safety, past that of a leash, even up to a mile away. Every dog wants to be a dog, and we applaud those who allow their dog to do so. A training collar can allow you to let your dog run in an open area such as a park, field, wilderness area, etc, without the constraints of a 4 foot leash.
Remote dog training collars are also known as shock collars. These collars use a static shock for correction. The static shock correction is just that, a safe static shock correction, not an AC or DC current. There is no electrical current which passes through the dog. Dog shock collars have a remote hand held trainer, operated by the dog’s handler, and a receiver collar which dispenses the static correction, and is worn by the dog.
There are a variety of training collars available. The large assortment is because different dogs need different systems and dog owners want different features. The two best manufacturers of dog training collars are Innotek and PetSafe. Below we review the various features of each product from each manufacturer.
One of the most important considerations for a dog training collar is the hand held remote. If the remote is not at your fingertips when you need it, then the dog training collar system is useless. Hence be sure that you purchase a remote dog collar with a small remote that you can easily keep with you. Innotek makes the smallest remotes on the market just for that reason.
Remote Dog Training Collars for
Small Dogs less than 20 Lbs:
PDLDT-305, PST-105

There are few choices available for this group of dogs. The PetSafe PDLDT-305 shock collar or the PST-105 shock collar. There is no difference between these two dog training collars except the package.
The PDLDT-305 shock collar is in a package for home use, while the PST-105 shock collar is in a gun dog package. The trainer operates up to 100 yards and has 10 different selectable stimulation levels. Many people are looking for a dog training system for dogs under 20 Lbs. It is not fair to say that these collars are suitable for all dogs less than 20 Lbs. That is a decision that only the owner can make.
Will they work? Yes. Will the collar receiver be too big? That is a judgment issue for the owner. Hence, we recommend that you use those measurements in comparison to your dog and then make your own decision. But remember, there are no other systems available with smaller collar receivers. Is the weight of the collar receiver important, in practicality? No. These collar receivers weigh between 1 ½ ounce and 3 ounces. They are extremely light, so light that you will commonly see your dog carrying toys, bones or sticks which weigh many times more.

The FS-15A shock collar is best known for its miniature key chain size transmitter, weighing only 1 ounce. Despite being miniature, it does offer a 150 yard range and the ability to pre select 2 of 7 different stimulation levels. The first of these levels is activated by the single button on the transmitter and the second level is automatically then 2 levels above that and selected by the switch on the side of the transmitter. The collar receiver is water resistant and operates on a long life 6 Volt alkaline battery, commonly available.
The FS-25A shock collar is the big brother of the FS-15A. It also has the well known hallmark miniature key chain size transmitter, weighing only 1 ounce.
The ability to pre select 2 of 7 different stimulation levels. The first of these levels is activated by the single button on the transmitter and the second level is automatically then 2 levels above that and selected by the switch on the side of the transmitter. However this unit has a rechargeable collar receiver.
This day and age, almost all household battery operated systems are rechargeable. Now dog training collars are as well. The internal rechargeable battery never needs replacement and lasts beyond the life of your dog. This rechargeable system, as does the ADV-300 and ADV-1000 shock collars, uses advanced Nickle Metal Hydride batteries (NiMH). NiMH batteries do not develop memory issues, and can be recharged as often as you want. The overall dollar savings are obvious, making this system one of the most popular available, and least expensive, far outselling conventional battery replacement systems. In addition, this system operates up to 250 yards.
PDBDT-305, PST-105S Remote Dog Training Collar
Shock Collars from PetSafe
These remote dog trainers are from PetSafe. There is no difference electronically or in performance. The PDBDT-305 is the home training model, and the PST-105S is the gun dog hunting model. The only offer a 100 yard range, which can be a problem once you consider how fast a dog can travel and your own reaction time. The collar receivers are waterproof and use a commonly replaceable 3 volt battery. They have 10 correction levels and a tone option. The transmitter is unfortunately rather large and cannot be carried safely in a pocket.
Two Dog Training Shock Collars
For those people with two as opposed to one dog there are remote two dog training collar systems available. Again Innotek makes 3 different Two Dog systems. They are differentiated by range, waterproof vs water resistant, and rechargeable.
BT-502A Remote Two Dog Training Collar System
Two Dog Shock Collars from Innotek.
The BT-502A Shock collar has a 150 yard range. The collar receivers are water resistant, but not waterproof. Each collar is color coded for ease of identification. Both collars work independently from a single small palm sized transmitter.
The system offers 4 selectable levels of static correction. The remote transmitter is easy to use with dog one on the left side and dog two on the right side. The collar receivers are battery replaceable, not rechargeable. This is the only draw back, a rechargeable receiver is always better than a battery replaceable receiver. This is a great unit for the two dog household, easy to operate, and a small remote.
